A vintage, very rare and highly desirable Eames Herman Miller turquoise side shell on a lovely used, original, walnut DSW base is a perfect chair for any room. Arguably one of the most coveted colours in the shell chair collection, this rare shell chair has aged exceptionally well, retaining a strong shade of colour.

Certain colours in the Eames fiberglass series were not quite as popular as others, maybe due to the feel of the time, but turquoise is one of these examples and, as a result, it has become one of the collector’s most coveted colours due to this rarity.

Individual Characteristics

The depth of colour retained in this shell is simple magnificent and the condition mirrors this. With minimal surface dirt – though a good scrub will remove the rest – the only signs of age are the slight marks around the edging which is almost common place with Eames shells.

The large ‘H’ with Herman Miller’s name underneath indicates this is an original shell produced by them between the years 1959-1989 and the little flame symbol underneath – a bit of an enigma in the Eames world – potentially points the time of production as being 1959-1960.
