Speckled Orange Pair Herman Miller Original White Eames DSR Side Shell Chair
This is a beautiful used pair of Herman Miller Eames Original DSR Side Shell Chairs completed with warm Orange Marmalade fabric coating on top of the porcelain white side shells to create a splendid chair, a perfect decorative duo to be presented in your dining room. Moreover, these vintage DSR side shell chairs are distinctive with their used, newer, black DSR bases, inspired by the 'Eiffel Tower', which is where the name ‘Eames DSR Eiffel Chair’ originated from.
The upholstered versions of the Eames shells were designed with the help of the Eames’s great personal friend Alexander Girard, who became the head of textiles at Herman Miller and introduced the Eameses to Herman Miller.
Herman Miller faithfully reintroduced the fiberglass shell and with it maintained the upholstered options for them. The options available are still numerous, available in various fabrics in various colors.
This is a great example of a vintage, used DSR side shell chair unique in its bright, orange color. This particular pair is in good condition, however, as with many vintage pieces, it is completely normal for this chair to have a few scratches and minor marks.
The Herman Miller and the ‘S’ Summit logo indicated that it was produced around late 1959-1989
An Eames shell is a coveted piece. A simultaneous artistic piece whilst being an ergonomic design has helped maintain their interest. Of course, factors such as age, condition and even color can affect how much interest these pieces gain with original Zenith pieces commanding a respectable price. A second-generation DSR side shell with such distinct color is absolutely worth the investment, especially considering that the base is relatively new and the discounted rate that comes when you purchase a pair.
