Evans Products - Original 1942 Wrapped US Navy Eames Plywood Leg Splint
An entirely unique opportunity to own a piece of Eames, and indeed second world war, history with an incredible original wrapped US Navy plywood splint from Evans Products, 1942.
This is the great opportunity to own a small piece of history complete with the original wrapping!
Famously, this leg splint was designed by Charles Eames and fellows, for Evans Products of Santa Monica, for the war effort. It was commissioned and put into use from 1942. The Eames Office also designed a stretcher too which was not put into commission as well as seats and flaps for aircraft, all for the war effort.
A degree of wrapped splints became available around the collectable market following the closure of old army storage where they had sat for many years. However to find an original wrapped one is a great collector's piece.
Whilst splints have been professionally inspected, the wrapping may show some slight signs of wear and have some slight tears in it. Image of unwrapped splint is for reference only
Wrapped splints alone have become quite a collectible for Eames enthusiasts. A wrapped example in such good condition is quite possibly one of the most amazing collector's pieces.
