Lemon Yellow Herman Miller Vintage Original Eames DAX Arm Shell Chair
A great chair. A strong colour, vintage Herman Miller Eames arm shell in distinctive, classic, lemon yellow colour and on an original black DAX H base, perfect. The chair has managed to retain a good colour considering its age, though does show some signs of shock mount bleeding. This is a great example of an all original 2nd generation design icon.
After Herman Miller took over production from Zenith, the Eames shells started to see a consistency in their production and, as a result of this, the dying process became more refined meaning that many shells from the 'Herman Miller era' still retain a strong pigmentation even today!
The shell has aged well, it does display an element of ingrained, aged, dirt but, with some deep cleaning, this could be lessened. The shell is still fantastic and there are no cracks or dents.
There is some shock mount bleeding evident on the seat surface.
The original black DAX 'H' base also shows age related marks with small areas of paint thinning and scuffs, but this is all part of the aged character which makes the chair look as distinctive as it does.
The double triangle embossed logo indicates this is a GATC produced shell, produced for Herman Miller; they were one of the first factories used to produce the Eames shells for Herman Miller.
The Eames’s shell chairs have become highly coveted pieces. Their popularity has helped ensure their continued production today. As with many things, their investment value is determined by many numerous factors, but the main ones are age, condition, originality and colour. As a great example of this vintage classic, it will prove to be a good investment piece.
