Lemon Yellow Herman Miller Original Vintage Eames DSW Side Shell Chair
A much coveted original, the Herman Miller lemon yellow Eames fiberglass side shell chair is always popular especially on its used, newer, black DSW dowel base. As one of the original six colours produced, lemon yellow is definitely one of the classic, original, colours that helped see the success of the shell series.
The side variant of the iconic shell chairs was the second version to be produced and was done so in 1952/53. The arm shell was the first one to be produced in 1950 from the combined force of Zenith Plastics and Herman Miller.
This particular shell has retained its colour remarkably well considering their tendency to fade over time. There are some age related marks to the chair, expected with its age and mostly around the edges.
There is a stamp on the underside of the shell which is a summit prime stamp which indicates the shell is from 1959.
The Eames shells range in their investment value depending upon many factors. The condition, age, colour and even origin of the shell can affect the price of each shell. As this is one of the original colours its investment value is more reasonable than some shells and it should see a steady increase over time.
