Orange Set (4) Herman Miller Original Eames DSW Dining Side Shell Chairs
These vibrant, original orange, authentic Eames fiberglass side shell chairs for Herman Miller on used, newer, walnut DSW bases make for bold statement pieces. These bright orange shells have a wonderful deep colour with fantastic clearly seen visible fibers. Some really nice and desirable examples.
The Eames shell series chairs really do not need any introduction. With early prototypes beginning in the late 1940's, production began on the Eames' dream of 'chairs for the masses' in 1950 with the arm and then the sides later in 1952/53. The original and vintage fiberglass chairs were so versatile and so modern that they only increase in popularity as the years go by.
As vintage versions of the shell chair, their condition is aged but good considering this. The used bases are in good condition with only natural signs of use evident as would be expected. The nature of the aging of the shells mean they may be slightly different in shade to each other, but they are all of the same batch.
The logo dictates the shells were made at the Herman Miller factory between 1958-1959. The medallion may be missing off the shells but this in no way affects the investment value of them.
Eames Shell Chairs vary from 1 to 5 stars for investment. The reasons depend on so many factors but mainly the condition, the rarity of the colour, the originality of the base, the age and of course the maker are those that determine. As deep, highly fibrous examples, these shells should prove to be a reasonable investment piece.
