Seafoam 3rd Generation Zenith Vintage Eames DAX Shell Chair
This is a vintage 3rd Generation Zenith arm shell chair by Eames in the highly coveted seafoam colour, in great condition, and on its original silver DAX base. The chair has managed to retain a strong colour though has signs of age. It is an excellent third-generation arm shell making a fantastic statement piece.
This beautiful seafoam vintage Herman Miller Arm Shell top looks remarkable on its original DAX base, creating a real statement and investment piece. The Eames shell chairs are a well-known and much-loved chair and this bright white chair is a perfect example as to why that is the case. The arm tops were the first of the shell chairs to be designed by Charles and Ray with prototypes beginning in the late 1940s.
The success of these chairs has been proven by the continuous production time they have seen. From their origin in the 1950s, new bases, upholstered variants and even inspired variants such as the La Fonda ensured these chairs have cemented themselves in the history books with their iconic design. Upholstered versions were introduced in the late 1950s when Alexander Girard was commissioned to help design them and new bases found their way under the shells over the many years they have been produced
The distinctive colour has aged in a unique manner. As with many Zenith shells, the colour has slightly faded in a novel way and the shell is in excellent vintage condition. There are no cracks or dents.
The original base has a distinctive aged patina but a clean will help restore its shine. It does still have all of its original feet too.
