Product Description

A perfect set of used Vintage Light Parchment Herman Miller Eames DSW side chairs, with beautiful, stained oak DSW Base. The light parchment yellow has elements of soft, warm mustard tinge to the chair, giving it a rustic feel. Being one of the first 3 original colours, Parchment has maintained its popularity over the decades, and this set of dining chairs will be a very classy addition to your dining room.

The Eames shell series chairs really don’t need any introduction. With early prototypes beginning in the late 1940's, production began on the Eames' dream of 'chairs for the masses' in 1950 with the arm and then the sides later in 1952/53. The original and vintage fiberglass chairs were so versatile and so modern that they only increase in popularity as the years go by.

Fiberglass originals always have a base colour and gorgeous 'visible' fibres in the shell itself. Upholstered versions were introduced by Herman Miller a little later using fabrics and textiles designed by the esteemed designer Alexander Girard.

Individual Characteristics

As with many vintage shells, it does display some marks consistent with its age, however, the overall condition is still excellent, in which the price does reflect this. Being a lighter colour, there could be some ingrained age to it which may require further cleaning. The beauty of parchment white shells is in the way they each age in a distinctively different manner; as a set of 6, there may be some more darker than others, but they are of all the same batch of shells. Further pictures of the chair's underside and seatings are available upon request.

Please also note that the colour of the base may differ slightly from the picture, as the oak base is slightly lighter than the one pictured.

Investment Value

Eames Shell Chairs vary from 1 to 5 stars for investment. The reasons depend on so many factors but mainly the condition, the rarity of the colour, the originality of the base, the age and of course the maker are those that determine. This parchment colour chair is very popular, and even though it may not be considered as a rarity, this pair is definitely a must-have if you consider its vintage quality.
