Tan Herman Miller Original Eames DSW Dining Side Shell Chair
This is an example of a used Original Tan Herman Miller Eames side shell chair, complete with matching walnut wood DSW base. This gorgeous creamy tan compliments well with the chocolate walnut dowel base, and this combination will look fantastic with a glass top table.
The Eames shell series chairs really don’t need any introduction. With early prototypes beginning in the late 1940's, production began on the Eames' dream of 'chairs for the masses' in 1950 with the arm and then the sides later in 1952/53. The original and vintage fiberglass chairs were so versatile and so modern that they only increase in popularity as the years go by.
Fiberglass originals always have a base colour and gorgeous 'visible' fibers in the shell itself. Upholstered versions were introduced by Herman Miller a little later using fabrics and textiles designed by the esteemed designer Alexander Girard.
This gorgeous tan chair is a vintage classic- It does feature aged marks and a couple of aged scratches- further images are available upon request. The dowel base will provide excellent stability. The overall chair is in fantastic condition despite its vintage age.
The newer, replacement Herman Miller maple DSW base is in good used condition.
The ‘C’ stamp signifies that is produced around 1965-1978 and is of a Later Cincinnati Milacron Herman Miller Production.
Eames Shell Chairs vary from 1 to 5 stars for investment. The reasons depend on so many factors but mainly the condition, the rarity of the colour, the originality of the base, the age and of course the maker are those that determine. This tan colour is still considered as highly desirable, especially as the chair is still in a good and sturdy condition, therefore making this chair a superb investment.
