Umber Pair of Herman Miller Original Vintage Eames DSW Side Shell Chairs
A rather rare version of a classic. These vintage Herman Miller Eames highly fibrous umber DSW shell chairs are stunning on used walnut DSW dowel bases. A unique colour, these chairs are in a well used vintage condition and are excellent examples of Eames shell chairs. The bold colour compliments the dark walnut colour of the DSW base.
The side variant of the iconic shell chairs was the second version to be produced and was done so in 1952/53. The arm shell was the first one to be produced in 1950 from the combined force of Zenith Plastics and Herman Miller.
As shown in the pictures, the chairs are in good vintage condition, they have been well used and have aged well with just a few scuff marks on the edges which are expected with ageing.
The newer, replacement Herman Miller walnut DSW bases are in good used condition. The ‘C’ logo with a five-point star within it, indicates this shells originate from Herman Millers’ later Cincinnati Milacron factories. These chairs therefore age from between 1968-1978.
