White Herman Miller Original George Nelson 5752 Square Coffee Table
A wonderful example of a rare classic! A design from the early 50s; this is an original white laminated square George Nelson 5752 coffee table for Herman Miller. The beautiful table features natural dark wood colour legs which stand out against the bright finish of the top and still looks exceptionally modern today!
George Nelson, who was employed as the Design Director for Herman Miller, was actually more interested, initially, in architecture. He did, however, excel in his new role and did open up his own design studio focusing on furniture from which this table, amongst many other pieces, was born.
This particular design was one of his earlier pieces, but it saw a good production period, the same as the ‘Swagged Leg’ pieces. Simple yet ingenious, the design means the table looks sleek and professional whilst also being homely and comfortable, allowing it to fit in almost any space desired.
The white laminated finish is in relatively good condition considering its age. It does have some marks and slight scratches on the top but none that have cut too deep into it. The base also displays some signs of its age but too is in good vintage condition.
This table measures: 83cm wide x 83cm long x 38.5cm tall.
George Nelson’s work is highly sought after. Much like the other designers of his era, he helped revolutionize furniture design in the 40s, 50s and 60s. This little coffee table is one of the highly coveted pieces being one a rare 5752 coffee table. In good vintage condition like this it should prove to be a good investment piece.
